The Blues' Alex Pietrangelo did something Thursday night that teammate Barret Jackman has been trying to do for 12 months - tie Bobby Plager in career goals.
Pietrangelo's game-winner in the third period against Edmonton was the 20th goal of his career, matching Plager for 16th place on the Blues' career list for defensemen. Pietrangelo notched No. 20 in his 141st NHL game. Jackman, at 19 goals, has played 562 games in the league.
"I haven't scored out of respect for Bobby," joked Jackman, who was given Plager's No. 5 when he broke in with the Blues a decade ago.
Jackman has been "stuck" on 19 career goals since Jan. 7, 2010. It's been 139 games since he lit the lamp that day in Anaheim.
"I told him when he scores his next one, he'll tie me, and then in another three years he can pass me," Plager quipped.
